Individuals, companies and communities. You can also authorize an agent to apply.
What is required of an individual applying for an fi-domain name?
at least 15 years old home Finland Finnish ID number
What kind of companies and communities can get an fi domain name?
Listed in the Finnish Trade, Association or Foundation Register:
companies or private traders
Finnish public entities such as state institutions, municipalities and municipal federations, churches and parishes
state-owned enterprises
bodies governed by public law and associations governed by public law
foreign missions.
NB! Entry in the tax administration register is not enough.
Foreign companies and trademarks:
A foreign entity or trader can obtain an fi-domain by registering a Finnish branch in the Trade Register.
What can an fi domain name look like?
The length can be 2-63 characters. The allowed characters are letters a – ö, numbers 0–9, and a dash (-) and characters in the Sámi language spoken in Finland.
The hyphen should not be the first or last character of the domain.
The third and fourth characters must not be hyphens.
